PIAB Vacuum Conveyors, located in Hingham, Mass., offers advanced testing at its vacuum conveyor laboratory. The state-of-the-art testing facility allows users to test the process in which they will move their powder, granule, or fluid samples.

The vacuum conveyor testing facility is especially designed for engineers in the food, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries — who deal with materials that are often health impairing and/or sensitive to humidity and contamination. Testing in the laboratory ensures that their material can be conveyed safely, hygienically, quietly, and efficiently.

PIAB engineers assess conveying characteristics over various vertical and horizontal distances and provide users with a computer-generated analysis of volume conveyed per hour or minute over a given distance. This detailed report allows users to be certain that vacuum cycle time and energy consumption are effective.

Based on the user's specifications, PIAB guarantees the testing results. If the user chooses to attend the testing, all charges are waived; otherwise a $250 fee is assessed. Examples of materials that are tested include aluminum oxide, soya flour, nickel powder, manganese dioxide, coffee beans, peas, and penicillin.
