RSC Bio Solutions, Indian Trail, N.C., debuted its new line of bio-based cleaners and fluids at ConExpo last month. These are the company’s first products since its launch in 2010 as a bio-based platform of Radiator Specialty Co., which is known for its Liquid Wrench and Gunk brands.

The new line will be available for retail sale and includes fluids and oils, primarily for smaller hydraulically-powered machines, such as lawnmowers and small farm equipment. The line was created through a partnership with Terresolve Technologies Ltd., Mentor Ohio, which manufactures bio-based hydraulic fluid. RSC is marketing its products under Terresolve’s EnviroLogic name.

The Liquid Wrench Powered by EnviroLogic Mobile Equipment Hydraulic Fluid is readily biodegradable and safe for use in all ISO 46 grade hydraulic systems. It is designed to meet or exceed the requirements of most major hydraulic equipment manufacturers and performs well in low temperatures. It is available in 1- and 5-gal containers.

The Liquid Wrench Powered by EnviroLogic line also includes:

• Penetrating Oil, which quickly dissolves rust, cuts through grease, penetrates corrosion, and easily frees stuck nuts, locks, bolts, hinges, clamps, and pipes. It is available in 10 and 32 oz., and 1-gal sizes.

• Jack Oil, for anti-wear and corrosion protection. It is formulated to reduce sling off, which offers superior lubrication. The biobased ISO 46 grade jack fluid meets all requirements of major hydraulic jack OEMs and component suppliers, and delivers premium performance when compared to petroleum-based jack oils. It is available in 1-, 5-, and 55-gal containers.

• Aerial Lift Fluid offers a premium performance when compared to petroleum-based aerial lift fluids. The formula is readily biodegradable and safe for use in all aerial lift hydraulic systems. The non-hazardous technology is designed to meet or exceed the requirements of most major hydraulic equipment manufacturers and has outstanding performance in low temperature environments. It is available in 1-gal, 5-, and 55-gal containers.

The Gunk Powered by SafeCare products came through a partnership with Gemtek Products LLC. These products include Truck and Equipment Wash, Heavy Duty Degreaser, Universal Parts Washing Fluid, and a General Purpose Cleaner and Degreaser. They come in a variety of sizes, from smaller trigger bottles to multi-gallon containers.

According to Mike Guggenheimer, Vice President of Business Development for RSC Bio Solutions, the new products, especially the hydraulic fluid, will help end-users increase machine efficiency and lower costs by lengthening changeover intervals and lessening clean-up costs. While they may cost more up front, he said, they will offer a system cost advantage over the long-term.

“RSC Bio Solutions is committed to producing bio-based cleaners, degreasers and lubricants that provide non-hazardous alternatives for applications where both high performance and safety are essential,” Guggenheimer said. “These new products increase safety and efficiency for our customers because if there is an accidental spill in the workplace, no harm will be done to their employees or to the environment.”
