The 5th Annual Dutch Fluid Power Conference 1

The 5th Annual Dutch Fluid Power Conference will take place September 13, 2012 at the CineMec Film and Congress centre in Ede, Netherlands. As in the past, the Federation of Dutch suppliers in the Fluid Power Business (FEDA) and Verenging Platform Hydrauliek (VPH) are organizing the event and have chosen to focus on water hydraulics.
Although water hydraulics have been used for decades, the technology has not gained widespread acceptance. This is all changing now, as important developments emerge to solve such issues such as cavitation, corrosion, and lubrication in water hydraulic applications. As a result, components such as valves and pumps specifically developed for water hydraulic applications in the lower capacity segment are increasingly emerging in the market.
The conference will consist of fifteen speakers representing the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Belgium, Canada and Switzerland. Because of the large number of speakers, the organizers have chosen to run parallel sessions.
Another segment of the conference is a competition that will be held among technical institutes in the Netherlands. This challenge is for students to invent a solution for compression of plastic waste but to devise a household device that exploits the domestic water supply network as the primary power source and hydraulic medium.
Arjan Coppens, FEDA board member and chairman of the Hydraulic Solutions Section offered, “It is extremely important for us to involve the educational field in these developments within the discipline of hydraulics. That still does not happen enough, and yet these future engineers are exactly the people we need in the years ahead to pick up and run with this technology.”
