100 years and counting

I have been involved in the fluid power business for a long time through my career with Hydraulics & Pneumatics, but not nearly 100 years. In a very interesting article titled Hydraulic Innovators Turn 100, our Senior Associate Editor, Mary Gannon assisted by intern Catlin Nalley take a trip through history.

In this very interesting article, they take a look at three pioneers in the fluid power business, Viking Pump, The Gates Rubber Co., and Eaton Corp. Now I do remember a lot of the recent history but this article goes back many decades.

There are many such stories of contributions from inventors and industrial pioneers that has helped form the fluid power industry. Because of the nature of our business, some Rube Goldberg-type, thinking has led to many innovations. We report on the latest version every month but it was fun to read this article and learn a little history.
