Another Cool Example

While visiting Clippard Instrument Laboratory, I also had the chance to review and play pneumatic foosball.

This is another of the projects put together by the engineering team at Clippard to demonstrate the versatility of pneumatics in a fun setting. The characters on the field, the players, are activated side to side and in a kicking motion by joystick controls at the end of the table. It is suitable for two or four players depending on how many players you want to control.

This was fun but it was also educational from the perspective of learing about the banks of valves connected to air cylinders that make this game work. In addition, the fans in the audience are pneumatically controlled to cheer when their team scores a goal. They are also programmed to do a wave periodically.

If you have such a fun application that demonstrates fluid power in action, let us know about it on H&P magazine.
