An application where material selection is key

The selection of the right material for any given fluid power application is essential for success and optimum performance.  In the December issue of Hydraulics & Pneumatics, we report on a medical application where a ceramic motor was used.

In this article titled Metal-free motors put a new spin on medical imaging, the author explains how the use of metal needed to be avoided because of possible interference with the MRI machine.  The use of the ceramic air motor and engineered plastic hose end fittings allowed for a successful application.

The medical equipment market is a significant user of pneumatic technology.  Every issue of H&P contains pneumatic applications and product reviews.  If you are not already a subscriber to Hydraulics & Pneumatics, please click here and go to the very last page for a free subscription form.
