Benefits of Ductile Iron Components Presented

A review of the Dura-Bar presentation

Dura-Bar, of Woodstock, IL,  has been a regular participant at the Fluid Power Conference & Expo and that includes our Minnesota event last month.  We thank Dura-Bar and John Schultz for their presentation on Ductile Iron Components.

Until recently, pressure ratings for ductile iron components were based on book values and theoretical calculations and have been somewhat conservative.  This presentation, done by John and Molly Stieber of the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), highlighted the manufacturing benefits that can be gained by using continuously cast ductile iron bar stock for ductile iron components.  The recent developments being done at MSOE determining the pressure ratings for ductile iron were also presented.

Thanks again, Dura-Bar and John and Molly for your input and contribution to our very successful event.  Visit the Dura-Bar website for more information on ductile iron as used for fluid power components.
