As I read through the book Now Build a Great Business by Brian Tracy and Mark Thompson, I continue to develop an understanding of what it takes to build a great fluid power business. I am not referring to total size as a measure of success although the big companies in the fluid power industry all appear to be great models of success.
Instead, I reflect about the small custom cylinder manufacturer, the maker of FRLs, or the accessory providers and their attainment of greatness. I see it in all sizes of fluid power manufacturers and distributors as well. As the markets and overall environment for fluid power technology evolves, the great companies adapt and evolve with it.
I have seen numerous examples of great manufacturers and distributors in the fluid power industry. They thrive in good times and work through the downturns. As the supply chain landscape has changed, the great business distributors have adapted and changed to provide what their customers need and want.
It has been enlightening to get to know the individuals who make success happen in fluid power. I believe that we still have many great years ahead in the fluid power field.
