Business-to-Business Advertising in the Current Environment, Blast Announcements

Blast Announcements – this category used to be referred to as direct mail because, at one time, the mail system was the only way to reach a large audience directly and on an individual basis. Then blast faxing became popular for a short time only to be strictly limited by laws that restricted the opportunity to send faxes to companies with no interest in receiving them. In fact, the recipients were bothered by the faxes as a nuisance and a waste of their own fax paper and electricity.

Then came blast e-mails that are currently very popular. Most of this kind of communication can be referred to as spam, a new millennium annoyance. Companies go to great detail to put disclaimers at the end of their otherwise-normal-and-harmless e-mail messages in order to protect themselves form anti-spamming regulations. Even with all of this said, blast e-mail is still a favorable form of advertising to many companies because of the very low cost of doing it.
