Based on what I am hearing, energy efficiency and green technology are very closely related and are both key initiatives for all new industrial and mobile projects. Whether it is selling more fluid power components into the green markets like wind power, or simply making farm machinery more energy efficient, saving energy is top-of-mind for both designers and users of industrial equipment.
Thus, it is top-of-mind for companies that provide components and systems for machinery in today's marketplace. Fluid power components and systems now have built-in/assumed efficiencies but the initiative is to continue seeking ways to make fluid power systems more efficient.
It is so important that the National Science Foundation has granted millions of dollars to the Center for Compact and Efficient Fluid Power (CCEFP)headquartered at the University of Minnesota and including seven universities. A recent press release from CCEFP reveals that they have become more active in research into making fluid power systems more efficient in wind power applications.
