I have witnessed many companies struggle through the recent economic downturn but emerge successfully on the other side with a path toward success. They remained focused on customer service, innovation, and a commitment to excellence through the Great Recession.
By staying focused on the desired results, any company can achieve the same ends. Stay close to your customers, find out what they need, and prove how you can deliver. It is fine to stay aware of economic trends, but they do not determine your company' fate, but hard work and determination do.
