Hydraulics in the Neighborhood

You don't have to go far to see and experience the power of hydraulics. In fact, last week, I only had to go out my front door at home and look to my neighbor's driveway.

He was in the process of having a tree removed from his back yard. Many years ago, that would have been a very labor-intensive project to cut the tree down and to remove the branches and trunk. Not anymore.

My neighbor contracted with a tree removal company that brought a very interesting branch shredder and parked it in my neighbor's driveway.

After the trimming expert carefully removed branch by branch of the large oak tree, and section by section of the trunk, he carefully dropped them to the ground. One by one, another technician with the contractor company loaded the branches with appropriate caution into the shredder that turned otherwise-difficult-to-deal-with branches and leaves into a tan mist. Amazing.

I quickly summoned my wife to the scene. "See the magic of hydraulics, this is what I love about my job. Our technology makes this all possible and easy." She was impressed.

Later that evening, we returned to find the tree and ensuing mess all gone, thanks to the miracles of hydraulics, the right design choice. Nice work guys!
