The third and final day of the 2010 Industry and Economic Outlook Conference got underway with three case studies involving companies working across the supply channel for success. The first presentation examined how Alro Steel, a steel distributor, partnered with Daman Products, an manifold manufacturer, to take full advantage of material deliveries to benefit the lean manufacturing process at Daman.

Through careful planning between the Alro Steel representative and the Daman Products Purchasing manager, an efficient and productive means of material delivery was worked out to the advantage of Daman's manufacturing process. This was the first of three examples of how suppliers, component manufacturers, and distributors are working together to deliver value to the end use customer.

This proscess is an attempt by NFPA to demonstrate how channel partners can work together to provide the greatest value to customers in the fluid power end use markets. Two other examples that were presented on Wednesday morning involved the use of communication procedures to benefit other component manufacturers in the production of their components.
