On of the very familiar names in fluid power technology is Sun Hydraulics. As mentioned on their website, Sun Hydraulics designs and manufactures screw-in hydraulic cartridge valves and manifolds for industrial and mobile applications.
This company grew from the $5M range in the 1970s to over $150M today. Interestingly, as the company grew, the percentage of sales outside the US grew somewhat proportionally. Today, 60% of their business is done internationally.
Their website, which is available in more than one language is a big part of their adaptive style to globalization. Their presentation at the recent NFPA Annual Conference was given by CFO Tricia Fulton who did a great job of explaining how a fluid power company can grow both domestically and globally.
