It would be great of all agricultural fields and all golf courses were level. For the ag fields, they would be easier to work with the various ag machines. For the golf courses, it would be easier to hit the ball because you would always have a flat hitting surface.
However, our earth is not formed and finished that way. Both farmers and golfers have to deal with all of those undulating hills that stand in the way of their work. In the July issue of Hydraulics & Pneumatics, we address this problem with an artilce titled Traction and efficiency rule. This article tells how a particular machine builder uses hydrostatic drives to level the field with efficiency.
