More on Social Media - Facebook

Most people probably think of Facebook as a real form of "Social Media." In other words, it is a way to stay in touch with and communicate ideas and stories with friends and acquaintenances. It was certainly developed for that.

What I have seen over the past few years though, is the use of FB in business. Many companies have FB pages. It is an easy way to have an interactive forum with customers, employees, and vendors. It is a way to post useful information and get responses.

In the fluid power industry thus far, the adoption seems to be a little more deliberate. While many companies have FB pages, they don't really promote and publicize the use of them widely. Hydrauilcs & Pneumatics has a FB page and I invite anyone who wants to post anything about fluid power to go right ahead. You can post press releases, product photos, company announcements, and much more.

I believe that the usage of FB in industry and in fluid power in particular will grow in the near future but that is not certain. With e-communication growing not only in level of participation but in forms available, we are not sure what will be popular next year or even later this year.

Give it a try and see what you think of Facebook.
