NAHAD 2012

Here is a brief recap of the events of the first day of the Annual NAHAD Confneence

The 2012 NAHAD Annual Meeting & Convention got underway today at the fabulous Palazzo Resort in Las Vegas. President Tim O'Shaughnessy of Shamrock Hose & Fittings pounded the gavel to open the meeting and he promptly gave his opening remarks.

O'Shaughnessy gave all of the approprate recongnitions and then presented this year's George Carver Award for Outstanding Commitment to Industry Excellence to Keith Collett, retired of Goodyear Engineered Products and Veyance Technologies. One such award is given annually.

Then the podium was turned over to speaker and author Jaynie Smith who gave a presentation titled, Relevant Selling - Competitive Advantage. Keep in mind that the audience at a NAHAD Convention consists of many delagates from hose and accessory distributors as well as manufacturers. In either case, most of the audience makes a living from selling these products.

There was a quick official NAHAD business meeting that included the installation of the new officers. The next president of NAHAD will be Donald Fritzinger of RW Connection, Inc. who has served as First Vice President over the past year. Fritzinger then took over as presider of the meeting and O'Shaughnessy was recognized for his outstanding year of service as president.

The last presentation of the day was given by frequent speaker, Dr. Bill McCleave of McCleave & Associates whose topic as Where Managers Blunder - Avoid Traps for Superior Performance. In this presentation, McCleave reported on the results of a survey taken over the NAHAD membership about management topics and compared them to a larger study.

It was an excellent day at the Convention and will be topped off with an evening of hospitality. Congratulations to the Thompson Management Group for organizing and conducting another top notch event!
