A new term starts soon for the NFPA board and the Board of Directors were nominated and passed during the morning session at the 2009 NFPA Annual Meeting in Tucson. The incoming Chairman is Allen Carlson of Sun Hydraulics who replaces Dave Anderson of Sauer Danfoss. Congratulations to both men. A full slate of 18 board members will begin their term in June.
Other business included a summary of NFPA finances, an explanation of some research and education initiatives, and some future directions of the organization. Erik Lanke, Executive Director, gave a clear and interesting recap of where the Association has been and where it is going. Both are encouraging.
The NFPA has produced an excellent documentary about careers in fluid power and it can be found on the NFPA channel on YouTube. You can also find the video and more information about the Association at www.nfpa.com.
Next on the agenda was a presentation by Kim Stelson, Director of the Center for Compact and Efficient Fluid Power (CCEFP). This is a Research Center established though a grant from the National Science Foundation. The Center, which includes programs at 7 US universities, has some very exciting projects underway as explained by Professor Stelson. For more details on the CCEFP, go to http://www.ccefp.org/
