NFPA Regional Rountable Lunch

On May 7, 2009, a Detroit Area Regional Roundtable Lunch was held at the Ann Arbor Marriott Ypsilanti at Eagle Crest. It was very well attended by over 40 NFPA members and the keynote speaker was David L. Littmann, an economist who gave a outlook for the economy as it affects our industry. For more information on his presentation, go to www.nfpa.com.

At the start of the meeting, the attendees were asked to do a self introduction followed by a comment or two about the current state of their business. Many of the comments were upbeat and realistic. We are truly facing difficult and challenging times but all in attendance remain confident in their business and their futures. That part of the meeting was very optimistic.

The first formal speaker on the schedule, Paul Kuwik from Project Lead the Way, gave an excellent overview of a program that teaches teachers more about science and math so that they can better relay that knowledge to their students. Paul is the Michigan Director of the program and he is from Eastern Michigan University.

The keynote presentation by David Littmann, Senior Economist from the Mackinac Center for Public Policy. He gave a very detailed review of our current economic situation in the US and posible paths that our economy will follow. I would like to say that I am optimistic after his presentation,
