Not So Fast With Those Newspapers

I like newspapers. I have been critical of them but I like them. I also like using the web but it does not replace reading words on paper.

You have a special connection with you newspaper. It gives you a good feeling to look at a ragged paper that you have thoroughly worked over and read cover to cover and re-read articles and items of interest.

With a newspaper, you can tear stuff out and stick it on your bulletin board. They are not going away.

Even though some papers are going all-digital, we will still have newspapers. They just need to be managed according to the market's needs. We may not need so many papers or so many sections, but we need newspapers.

We need the Wall Street Journal, NY Times, and your local paper. We need viewpoints from all sides, conservative, liberal, centrist, and everything in-between.

I like the feel of a newspaper and the sound it makes when you turn the pages. I like to hold it up for a while and then spread it out on the table and read it.

Here is a prediction: Newspapers are not going away.
