During a recent visit to Clippard Instrument Laboratory in Cincinnati, Ohio, I had a first hand chance to see this really cool device that I will refer to as the Pneumatic Musical Tree. It is the invention of some of the really bright engineering people at Clippard including Rob Clippard who provided me with the explanation.
This is yet another example of the versatility, flexibility, and adaptability of pneumatic technology. Even though this is a fun device that was made specifically to display their technology at trade shows, it does a great job of clearly illustrating what pneumatics can do.
