RATs to the rescue

As we have stated again and again, fluid power plays a crucial role in our daily lives and in the safe and efficient operation of all types of machinery and equipment.  Something called a RAT or a ram engine turbine provides emergency power in aircraft applications.  This is our cover story for December.

While not all hydraulic systems are involved in such dramatic applications, most do perform some very useful service.  In this case, they provide a safety system for all types of aircraft.  I invite you to read the whole story in our December 2011 print edition, on our website or in our digital edition.

I also invite your company to submit interesting application stories for publication in H&P.  Stories like the RAT story make our content both interesting and useful to our over 60,000 readers.  And, by the way, if you choose to view this article on our digital editon, please go the very last page and sign up for your free subscription.
