Supply Chain Management by William Copacino of Oco Inc.

At the recent NFPA Conference, William Copacino of Oco Inc. addressed the association members with a presentation on Supply Chain Management. He spoke of the rising costs of transportation as a major factor in the future of SCM.

In the 1990's, the focus was on improving SC, in the 2000's it was globalizing the SC, and int he 2010"s the focuse is on optimizing the extended Supply Chain. e-sourcing and comptetive bidding will increase. SCM is a strategic weapon for shareholder value.

Mr. Copacino explained the following model of supply chain management, Supplier - Manufacturer - Distributor - Customer. He recomended the book Islands of Profit in a Sea of Red.
