The versatility of hydraulics

The use of hydraulic muscle is not new to the entertainment industry. In fact, Hydraulics & Pneumatics has been reporting on the liesure and entertainment use of fluid power for over 20 years.

In our July 2011 issue we feature the hydraulic system of the Spider-Man Broadway production in an article titled Hydraulics spin a web of motion. Even though the majority of hydraulic and pneumatic components are used in industrial applications, it is interesting to learn how well-designed systems, similar to industrial applications, can be used to create special effects and motion required for a Broadway play.

We take a break from our usual fare of articles with this one and I am sure that it will get our readers attention. It also helps to further the understanding of fluid power technology, even to non-technical readers who might just pick up a copy from one of our qualified readers.

At any rate, it is important to keep pushing the envelope of fluid power applications. In July, we report on another such example.
