What are my expectations ...

... from next week's NFPA Industry and Economic Outlook Conference? Well, it kind of changes frequently. I know that the fluid power industry has experienced steady growth since the first quarter of 2010 and it appears to continue even now.

The news coming out of the financial world is not so rosy but how will it affect our industry? We are becoming more aware of the crisis of debt that faces not only our nation but our world. Even as the US climbs ever so slowly out of our Great Recession, the news from the Eurozone is not helping us.

I believe that the stock market is a leading indicator of our economy and some of the worst news is happening there now. The performance of our stock market echoes the financial crisis of some European economies while we wrestle with a downgraded bond rating at home.

Still, my expectation is that we will see continued growth for the fluid power industry. It appears that the markets served well by fluid power technology have not been informed that the current financial problems should effect them or something like that.

At any rate, we expect to learn more next week.
