This year's NFPA Annual Conference takes place next week at the Montage Laguna Beach Resort in beautiful Laguna Beach, California. The weather and the networking promise to be great.
NFPA always organizes an impressive lineup of speakers and this year we have Alan Beaulieu, senior analyst, economist, and principal with the Institute for Trend Research. Alan will share his expertise on prospering through the business cycle and what may lie ahead for the fluid power industry. I have come to recognize Alan as my "go to" person for the authoritative word on what is going on in the fluid power industry economically speaking.
Tom Crawford with High performance Associates will demonstrate how to get the most out of high performing individuals in a business setting by applying the lessons of sports psychology. As we move into a recovery phase of the economy, we will want to be positioned to take advantage of the strengths of our team members.
Lori Cross, founder of Mindspan Consulting, will enlighten delegates about making new connections for us between recent discoveries in neuroscience and cutting-edge leadership skills to provide practical techniques for thinking more strategically, acting more decisively, and accelerating change. These traits are critical to success in the business world as we know it.
Bruce Kramer of the National Science Foundation will give a presentation titled Sparking Innovation and the Technologies of the Future. NSF is linking the discovery-driven culture of science with the innovation-driven culture of engineering to create new industries and transform existing product lines. This session will be an excellent follow up to last year's presentation about innovation by Ram Charan, co-author of Game Changer
