The cleanliness of hydraulic fluid is of utmost importance in any hydraulic system. Of course, some machinery and equipment present much greater challenges because of environmental conditions. In our February issue of Hydraulics & Pneumatics, we present an article that brings forth the concept of a Cylindrical Reservoir as a means for making fluid cleanliness more efficient and effictive.
While many excellent filtration devices on the market do wonders to keep hydraulic fluid clean, this article discusses how the shape of the reservoir contributes to fluid cleanliness. The basis for this is that reservoirs should keep contaminants in suspension for easy removal instead of serving as a refuge for contaminants.
