One of the recurring themes that I heard in several discussions at the FPDA/ISD Summit was offering the customer energy efficiency. One of the key presentations at the Summit was a panel discussion about offering green technology and energy efficiencies.
The presentation was followed by rountable discussions that explored ways that distributors sell green technology in today's marketplace. While selling into wind power, solar, and other alternative energy markets is something that distributors of industrial products value as an important market, it is still a difficult call as to how much of a distributor's resources should be put into it.
On the other hand, adding energy efficiency to their customers machinery and equipment is fully accepted as a necessity for distributors now. It has been accepted for years.
In Penton's Design Engineering Group, our team of editors and managers have recognized this call for efficiency and have launched a new magazine and website called Energy Efficiency & Technology. For more information, visit their website at
