Golf is fun. It is also the kind of event that lends itself nicely to networking. I had the privelige of golfing with three fluid power industry professionals at the Chevy Chase Golf Course in Wheeling, IL on Monday. The proceeds of the golf, putting contest, and 50-50 raffle were raised for the benefit of fluid power education through the NFPA Education and Technology Foundation. And we raised $12,000.
Our team did not win according to the scoreboard but we were big winners in terms of the fun and fellowship that we shared on the Chevy Chase course. It was a scramble format which means that after each shot, the team moves to the best shot and they take aim from there. One score is kept for each foursome. This takes the pressure off the individual golfers and makes for a very fun day.
Put it on your calendar for next year around this time, the second or third Monday of August. If you are involved in fluid power and like golf, you will love it.
