Even though 2009 has not been a very good year for business, there is one very signifigant positive that I would like to call to attention. In 2009, our editors on Hydraulics & Pneumatics have produced 12 excellent issues.
Every single issue of H&P in 2009 has contained the kind of information that has made our magazine great over the past 62 years. I congratulate Alan Hitchcox for his excellent work and his passion for fluid power in 2009. Under Alan's leadership, the editorial content of our magazine has risen to an all time high in quality.
I also praise our past editors, Dick Schneider and Tobi Goldoftas for their work in previous years to establish one of the finest industrial magazines in the business. They also served as mentors and teachers to Alan.
Mary Gannon has also made great contributions to the editorial mission of Hydraulics & Pneumatics in 2009. Mary has come a very long way in her work in a very short time since she joined us. Great job Mary! Ken Korane, who is a Machine Design editor, has also contributed some great work for us this year too.
Our Graphic Artist, Walt Wagner, is among the best in the business and his contributions to the graphic content of our magazine have been enormous this year and for the past several years. His ability to take an idea and make it graphically attractive in a very short time never ceases to amaze me.
It is easy to manage a great team. Even though the business side of H&P has struggled along with the rest of the economy in 2009, we have had a great year thanks to the H&P staff.
