Merry Christmas!
I love to write. I enjoy the challenge of piecing together a combination of words to fabricate sentences with meaning, character and wit. I mold sentences into paragraphs and paragraphs into pages, all the while tying the words with a central theme, which I express (hopefully) with a personal flair making my missives interesting for you to digest.
I’ve been writing regularly for the past few years, starting out by writing what I’ve been calling my “e-zines,” which is a contraction of electronic magazines. I had initially been writing these for only a few hundred or so of my customers and colleagues from The Fluid Power House, here in Ontario, sending them out monthly in a hybrid format of larger and smaller articles, and often including contests with epic swag ranging from pens to clothing.
Marry Gannon, here at Hydraulics & Pneumatics, was a subscriber to my Tweets, and at a request from H&P Publisher, Michael Ference, asked if there was a way I could work with them to supplement their current content with my brand of writing, possibly unique, to this type of publication (let’s face it, engineer writers are normally as concerned with humour as much as blue whales are concerned with ant hills). One a side note: my spelling is not as poor as it appears, and my word processor is not broken. I am Canadian, so I spell words in olde school English, which is why you’ve seen words in these blogs such as metre, centre and humour (by the way, I get a paycheque, not a paycheck).
It is Christmas time, once again, which is a time of year to give kindly to others. I give my words to Hydraulics & Pneumatics, but I want to thank them for this opportunity they’ve given me to do so. This is a great publication, and you’d be blown away by the work required behind the scenes to make it all happen. The Christmas gift they give you to lasts year round.
I am on holidays until January 3rd, and during these holidays, I will take a break from writing. I’d like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and/or Kwanzaa and/or Festivus and a Happy New Year!
