The 2011 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) is going on this week at the Reliant Center in Houston. This is a very significant show for H&P magazine for several reasons.
First and foremost, many of our advertising clients are exhibiting at the show. Fluid power technology is essential for many of the functions performed on offshore drilling platforms as well as on ships and other vessels used to explore and drill for oil.
The show is also significant because oil is a very large segment of the commodity market in our country and, obviously, the price of gasoline is dependent upon the price of a barrel of oil. Fluid power technology, again, makes the exploration, extraction, and transportation of this valuable resource possible.
Energy efficiency is a key topic in all industrial settings. Producing energy through petroleum in an efficient way is still considered an initiative in line with green initiatives. Not only are alternative energy sources part of the equation, but the efficient procurement and usage of petroleum fits into that mix also.
This show is all about everyting having to do with offshore energy and it is one of the biggest industrial tradeshows in America and H&P is thrilled to be a part of it!
