Magazines are here to stay for a long time. Let me make that clear. If a magazine has a purpose, like the one that I work on, it will be here because it has a purpose.
Now, with so many possibilities available electronically, the great content that appears in our "great" magazines can get into the hands of users who want and need the information that we publish.
Furthermore, infomation that was traditionally only published in print, can now stay online and available to anyone interested and for indefinite periods of time. For a magazine like mine, that is great news,
See, most of the information found in Hydraulics & Pneumatics is usable for many, many years because even though technology changes, our technology is fairly stable and many of the principles used today, last year, and the day before are still current. In the fluid power field, which is the technology served by our magazine, products and systems do get better year over year but the fundamentals of fluid power stay the same.
Improved controls, designs, and materials have made our technology more competitive, but the information that our readers accessed last year and five years ago is still very useful. That is why electronic media works so well for technology magazines like Hydraulics & Pneumatics.
We are constantly looking for opportunities to use electronic communications to get our great content into our users hands. And we are constantly looking for ways to keep it available.
e-media, or digital media, has made this possible and you could call the period that we are now entering Publishing 2.0 because it is an even better version.
