We are currently being bombarded with messages and "breaking news" about the current financial crisis plaguing Wall Street. I have two pearls of advice regarding this crisis.
First, I am sticking with the belief that everything is cyclical and that our economy will work its way out of this mess with or without the bailout. The bailout will help. Despite the possibility that this is a very deep downturn in the business cycle, I believe it is still a cycle and it will turn around.
Second, the only thing that we as American workers can do is stay focused on our own jobs. The workforce is not one large body with a single mission. It is millions of individuals each with a specific job. If everyone does their job to the best of their ability, they will increase their chances of personal success and increase the overall economy's chances for success.
This concept is similar to an election. Does one person's vote count any more that another person's? No. Likewise, doing your job contributes to the overall success of our economy.
Remember, ordinary people working together and doing their individual best will accomplish extraordinary things.
