I always know that I can count on economist Alan Beaulieu for excellent information about the state of the fluid power economy. In his NFPA Economic Update webcast yesterday, Alan said many important and interesting things about 2010 and beyond.
My key takeaway is this: The fluid power economy is passing (or has passed) from phase D to phase A. This may not seem like exciting news because on either immediate side of that passing point is the bottom. It is like, which day is shorter, the day before or the day after the Winter Solstice? Well on the day after, the days get longer!
I think that this is very exciting news because if you view his graph, phases A and B are all up! That means that we are at the bottom of the decline but the future looks good. It appears that our industry will be passing through two very exciting phases.
That means that companies need to prepare for this time in many ways including increased marketing and advertising. Alan even mentions in his presentation that fluid power companies need to be advertising now to take advantage of the recovery.
