The Danfoss Power Solutions SLP13 is a two-way two-position poppet-type solenoid valve which provides low power and low pressure drop for compact equipment applications.

Features of the SLP13 valve include: 

  • reduced power consumption
  • increased flow rating
  • pressure rating up to 350 bar (5,000 psi)
  • new coil technology extends service life.

Low Power and High Flow Meet Changing Hydraulic System Needs

Danfoss' SLP13 cartridge valve is equipped with patent-pending technology which reduces the valve's power consumption while simultaneously increasing its flow rating. Doing so enables machinery OEMs to better meet efficiency goals as well as reduce the size and cost of hydraulic manifolds. 

Power consumption is reduced from 29 W to less than 10 W, minimizing fuel use in diesel-powered machines and battery energy in electric-powered alternatives. The valve features a new coil design. Reducing the valve's power consumption allows the coil's stabilized temperature to be lowered by nearly 50%, preventing burnout for an expanded operating life.

The SLP13 valve features a lower pressure drop than previous generations which Danfoss said in its press release announcing the launch of the valve can help reduce fuel use and emissions. 

A unique architecture enables the cartridge valve to provide approximately 1.8 times more flow in the same cavity type when compared to other valve designs. The size 10 valve has a nominal flow rate of 79 lpm (21 gpm). According to Danfoss, this design enables OEMs to replace larger valves with a smaller option, without sacrificing performance, which allows for the hydraulic system to be more compact, lighter in weight and cost efficient.

Reducing the size and weight of the system can benefit overall machine size and weight which can lead to further efficiency savings; this can also benefit the move toward electric-powered machines which require more space claim for other components, such as batteries, and improved efficiency to optimize battery life between charges.
